Back by popular demand… 10 fun facts about me

1. I always use the Oxford comma (and hate that it’s not a thing in German).
2. I write morning pages every day (à la The Artist’s Way).
3. My high school softball team won the 2002 NYC championship, and I was the city’s Player of the Year!
4. I have a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
5. I’ve walked from Vienna to Mariazell (a 120km pilgrimage route), twice.
6. I’m a big fan of the liberal arts approach to education.
7. At age 19, I stopped watching TV and movies for a while because the gender norms were so insidious. It was an excellent detox for my still-developing brain (probably inspired by Inga Muscio’s book Cunt).
8. At the end of 2025 I began trying out the name Aris Jae (instead of Alyssa) for myself, mostly with friends. Let’s see where it goes.
